This one A-level equivalent will help, alongside other qualifications, through applied learning, to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the health and social care sector. This qualification isn’t just about caring for babies or the elderly and the ill; it will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into Higher Education on a health and social care-related programme such as Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work or Early Childhood Studies. Health and social care is a necessity to the society, a career in this area will be rewarding and morally satisfying. Go for it.
Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care
This course will provide learners with the opportunity, through applied learning, to develop the core specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required in the health and social care sector. Learners will take six units made up of mandatory and optional units: Everybody will study the following mandatory units:
3 x 60 GLH, 1 x 90 GLH and an appropriate combination of 30 GLH and 60 GLH units.
Three externally examined units and the rest are centre assessed and three externally examined units and the rest are centre assessed and moderated by OCR.
Students applying for Health & Social Care should achieve at the very least a Level 4 in English Language, Maths and 3 other GCSE subjects. Students invited for interview will be asked to prepare a piece of written work set by the CMSS. This work will be assessed by the subject specialist as part of the interview process and will contribute to the decision of an offer being made.
