Outstanding Results 2016

The accomplishment of Student goals is what we are in business to do!

Outstanding Results for our Year 13 Students in 2016!

Our Year 13 Leavers of 2016 continue to produce excellent results at the CMSS

"The 18th August saw lots of very happy, and relieved, faces amongst the Y13 students at the CMSS. The Studio School reception became a very busy hive of activity as envelopes were torn open, University places were confirmed and group hugs that demonstrated the support and delight students showed for each other as they knew the door was now open to move onto their next planned phase!

Students who deserve a particular mention include Ellie Czerepaniak who walked away with D*D*D* in Art and Design. Following two years of hard work, business commissions and challenging briefs, Ellie completed a portfolio of expressive and unique designs that will confidently compete with her soon-to-be fellow under-graduates on the Graphic Design course which Ellie will enrol onto at Staffordshire University. Also, Alexandra Fox! At the end of Y12, Alex gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (Elija Joseph!) yet returned to College on the 4th September to embrace the challenge of Y13 final year performances and Photography portfolios. Alex impressed all the staff with her resilience and determination as balanced the demands of motherhood with those of a modern day creative student. Alex walked away with a double Distinction in Acting, thereby securing her place at Huddersfield University on the Performance Arts Degree course. Well done Alex - we hope you will one day put your talents into teaching and come back to inspire the future generation of actors at the CMSS."

Of those who completed their two year courses at KS5:

  • 91% of Student entries achieved at least their expected grades - an increase of 15% from 2015!
  • 39% of Student entries achieved at least 1 grade higher than expected.
  • 100% achieved at least 2 A level equivalents.
  • 86% achieved at least 3 A level equivalents.
  • 41% achieved at least 3.5 A level equivalents.
  • 17% achieved 4 A level equivalents.
  • 43% of grades awarded were within the Distinction/Distinction*mark bands.
  • 100% of students completeing A2 Level qualifactions passed with at least grade C's.
  • 55% of leavers have now secured a University pathway, all accepting their first choice offer.
  • 94% of the above students are undertaking courses which progress directly from their Level 3 studies.
  • 45% of students have clear progression routes or employed positions to achieve planned career aspirations.
  • The CMSS celebrates no NEET students at the current time

How Do We Achieve This?

The recipe for such success is provided through personalised learning, small/open environments, high quality resources and excellent teaching. These students chose to attend a College that provides an atmosphere similar to that of a Creative Agency where 100% of students acknowledge they are treated as individuals. The staff at the Studio School are truly committed to the students and really invest in their abilities so they can achieve beyond expectations. This commitment brings a lot of pressure for the students but they always know that we are ready to support them through their challenging times.

“Getting by” is not a philosophy we sign up to at the Studio School. We believe in working hard and balancing this against other, equally enriching, experiences. We stretch the boundaries for high achievement; exploring creative ideas, creative outputs and inspiring students to think outside the box is what truly drives us. If you feel you would thrive in this environment please check out our open days here, give us a ring or drop us an email. We are always happy to discuss our unique College offer.
